Application Process

1. Application

Please send the signed application form to your Merica Mandarin representative, including a 10% non-refundable deposit of the total invoice. If applicable, please include the courier fee.

Students aged 18 and above must sign the application form, confirming that they have read and agree to these terms and conditions. For students under 18, a Parent/Guardian Consent Form must also be completed and signed. You can download the consent form [here](insert link).

Contract Formation:
By signing and submitting the application form, the student agrees to enter into a legally binding contract with Merica Education. Once Merica Education receives the completed and signed application form along with the application fee, and confirms that the student’s chosen program and accommodation are available, a booking confirmation will be issued. At that point, a legally binding contract based on these terms and conditions is formed, subject to the student meeting all relevant legal requirements.

Privacy Policy:
We value your privacy. Please read our privacy policy to understand how we handle your personal data. For details, please visit:

Compliance with Taiwan Laws:
Merica Education operates in accordance with the current laws and regulations of Taiwan, ensuring that all transactions and services meet legal requirements, including the legitimacy of funding sources and related checks.

2. Payment Deadline

All program fees must be paid in full (unless otherwise specified) no later than 30 days prior to the program start date. For bookings made less than 30 days before the program start date, full payment is required immediately. If full payment is not received before the program start date, participation in the program will not be permitted. The Program Deposit is refundable under the conditions outlined in our refund policy. Please refer to the “Refund Policy” section below for further details.

3. Visa Information

Visa requirements for studying in Taiwan are subject to change. It is the responsibility of the student to arrange all necessary travel permits or visas and to ensure they have a valid passport and appropriate authorization to stay in Taiwan for the entire duration of their program. In some cases, full payment of program fees may be required before visa-related documents can be issued. For students under 18 years of age, completed consent forms or other documentation from a parent or legal guardian may be required for visa processing. No visa is required for online-only programs. Students are encouraged to check the latest visa requirements with their local Taiwan representative office or embassy.

4. Travel and Medical Insurance:

Travel and medical insurance are mandatory for all international students studying in Taiwan, regardless of the program length or visa type. Students must ensure they have valid insurance coverage for the entire duration of their stay. Merica Education can assist students in finding tailored travel and medical insurance plans through trusted partners. Details of coverage can be provided upon request.

Students are responsible for their personal belongings during their stay in Taiwan and should arrange insurance for their possessions independently. Proof of valid medical insurance must be presented upon arrival at the program location. Students who fail to provide satisfactory proof of medical insurance will not be allowed to commence their program.

For additional guidance on travel and medical insurance requirements, please contact your Merica representative.

5. Health Declaration:

Students applying to study in Taiwan must disclose on their application form any of the following:
i) mental or physical illness;
ii) allergies;
iii) disabilities; or
iv) any condition that:

may interfere with their ability to successfully complete the program;
may affect the health or well-being of other students, host families, or staff members;
may require monitoring, treatment, or emergency intervention during the period of enrollment; or
may require special accommodations.
Merica Education reserves the right to reject an application or terminate a student’s enrollment if their participation poses a risk to their own health and safety, or to that of others, or if their physical or mental condition, even with reasonable accommodations, is deemed to prevent them from successfully completing the program. Refunds in such cases are at the discretion of Merica Education.

Students are encouraged to provide accurate and detailed information to ensure appropriate support and accommodations can be arranged during their studies.

6. Tuition Fees

Tuition fees include lessons, orientation sessions, access to computer and internet facilities at the school, placement and progress assessments, and a Merica Mandarin completion certificate awarded at the end of the program.

Merica Mandarin reserves the right to withhold the completion certificate if tuition fees are unpaid or if the student fails to meet other specified conditions. Students are encouraged to ensure all fees are settled and program requirements are fulfilled to successfully complete their studies.

7. Additional Services

Any additional services (include but not limited to transfers, travel, laundry, telephone costs, excursions, medical costs, special diet, exam fees, change of accommodation, enrolment, amendments and materials fees) are not included in any tuition fees unless specifically stated on a valid invoice.

8. Under 18 Year Olds

The minimum age for participation in a Merica Mandarin program is 16, unless the student is enrolled in a designated junior program or has obtained written authorization from the Program Director. Merica Mandarin primarily offers adult programs (except for those specifically advertised for juniors or young learners). Therefore, students aged 16 and 17 should be aware that they will be attending classes with students aged 18 and over.

Students under the age of 18 may be required to:

Pay a guardian fee.
Provide custodianship documents.
Live in Merica Mandarin-approved accommodation.
Book Merica Mandarin’s airport transfer service for both arrival and departure.
Purchase a medical insurance policy.
All students under the age of 18 must submit a signed Minor Authorization form prior to arrival. For students studying in Taiwan, additional documentation may be required based on local regulations.”
